The starting point

I had an unused Anbernic RG35XX H, an interest in Blackjack, and no existing experience on that handheld that quite fit what I wanted. That became a reason to build.

The product decision

Keep the experience offline and centered on play and practice. No ads, accounts, in-app purchases, or real-money gambling. The controller should feel like the natural way to use it.

Implementation

The game uses Lua and LÖVE, with deployment to Linux through muOS and PortMaster. The experience combines Blackjack, strategy and counting practice, saved progress, statistics, and session analysis.

From Windows to the handheld

Development involved Windows testing and packaging, Linux deployment, launcher and PortMaster path debugging, log inspection, and configuration fixes. It has been physically deployed and tested on an RG35XX H running muOS.

What the work demonstrates

A product starts with a specific need. Making it usable takes implementation, debugging, packaging, deployment, and iteration on actual hardware. The next step is to publish more of that process here.
